About The KeyView ® System

Taking Technology to the Rigs

- Computerized sensors relay information through the KeyView ® system

Improving productivity, maintaining a safe work environment, and early identification and management of potential problems are key elements of any successful business operation. Key addresses these customer priorities through the installation of innovative technology that constantly monitors equipment, rig operations and activity, and provides this data as it is collected. The system uses methods to capture rig data which is transmitted from remote locations to Key's central database and is available through a secure web site called the KeyView ® system.

Computer systems installed on Key rigs capture vital information from sensors and encoders strategically placed on the rig. The information is relayed via satellite communications to Key's home office data center, where customers and Key personnel can monitor what is happening at the well site as it is happening. Real time notification of safety incidences, such as toxic levels of gases around the well site, allows Key to quickly respond to problems and in many cases resolve incidents before the condition escalates. Operational information, such as oil pressure, running time, and various fluid levels can be collected at the rig site and forwarded to the appropriate individuals and/or systems. The overall and ongoing benefits to Key customers are apparent with the creation of a more efficient, effective and safer operation.

Communications from the rig to Key's centralized database enables more efficient access to information.

"We are continually searching for ways to positively impact our customers business, says Bruce Lowe, KeyView ® System Advisor. "This new technology allows us to do this in three ways: improve safety performance; increase our job site productivity by lowering the total job cost and time; and increase our job effectiveness by capturing critical operating data that allows our customers to make better decisions. This technology enables us to maintain the highest standards of services and minimize any disruptions to our customer's production."

Key's commitment to providing customers with high quality well service is evident in a number of ways. Not only does this specialized technology enable customers to access data on activities at the well site, it also provides customers with secure on-line reports providing details of the job from the point when the rig leaves the yard to the point of rigging down, and all points in between > The rig operator enters activity information by using the human-machine-interface (HMI) computer.

Key's ability to measure and report activities assures customers that the job is done right. Information provided through this specialized rig data capture technology also enables Key to identify priorities and make critical operational improvements to optimize time spent at the well. This minimizes downtime so customers can get their well producing more efficiently and sooner.

Taking technology to the rigs has brought well repairs and maintenance to a whole new level of efficiency. Real-time access to key information ensures Key customers benefit from increased productivity and fewer service disruptions. By establishing a pipeline between the job site and our customer's website browser there is real potential to add additional data and technical services to the system which will expand the value that Key delivers to its customers.
