Small Steps mission is to provide an exemplary early childhood education program to instill and foster the social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth of economically at-risk children and their families.

Small steps Nurturing Center provides an exemplary early education program incorporating acclaimed language arts, literacy, mathematics and fine arts programs. Small Steps currently serves 57 children in four class levels ranging from two years to kindergarten. This center offers enrollment on a first-come, first-served basis to children from economically disadvantaged households who live in the zip codes surrounding the school. The parents must also agree to volunteer at the school for a minimum of nine hours per year.

Since opening its doors, Small Steps has been full and now the wait list exceeds 100 children. In September 2006 Small Steps will open a second school in Houston's Fifth Ward, one of the most underserved areas in Houston for quality early childhood education.

Small Steps is free to its students and is completely funded through the generosity of private donors.
