The Sam Houston Area Council is dedicated to providing the opportunity for membership or participation to all approximately 600,000 youth that are available with the 16.5 counties served in southeast Texas.
Most individuals are aware of the contributions and vital role that the Boy Scouts of America has played in shaping the lives of boys and youngmen through the Scouting programs. The success of the Tiger Cub, Cub Scout, Boy Scout and the Venturing Program, which began including girls and young men in 1998, is well documented. On December 31, 2007, 53,289 youth were registered as Scouts in the traditional program, which includes Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturing.
The focus or mission of the Boy Scouts of America remains consistent as the day the organization was formed in 1910 and incorporated by Congress just five years later in December of 1915.
The Mission Statement and Purpose
